Textiles Act
Information on the Textiles Act 2023
Since 1 July 2023, the extended producer responsibility (UPV) for textiles has been in force in the Netherlands. This law requires producers and importers of clothing and household textiles to take responsibility for the full life cycle of their products, including the waste phase. The aim is to promote reuse and recycling of textiles to reduce environmental impact.
What does this mean for you as a consumer and retailer?
As a consumer or retailer, you can contribute to a more sustainable textile industry by not throwing away used textile products, but turning them in for reuse or recycling. This helps to reduce waste and preserve valuable raw materials.
Hand in your used textiles to Wicotex
At Wicotex, we fully support the goals of the Textiles Act 2023. Therefore, we offer both our retailers and consumers the opportunity to hand in used textile products purchased from Wicotex to us. In this way, together we ensure that these products are reused or recycled responsibly.
How does it work?
-
For retailers: You can collect used textile products and return them to us according to the procedures agreed with you. Contact your account manager for more information on the return process.
-
For consumers: Bring your used Wicotex textile products to the shop where you bought them. The shop will ensure that these products reach us for further processing.
By taking responsibility together, we contribute to a more sustainable future and meet the requirements of the new legislation. Together, we make a difference!
